Can I open a prepaid line if I have credit problems or unpaid bills?

Because a prepaid line is paid for before you use it, there is no credit assessment at sign-up, unlike a postpaid plan. If your identity can be confirmed with photo ID in your own name, you can open the line. There is no contract period and no early termination fee either. The one exception is unpaid charges at the same carrier: that carrier's own policy may block a new sign-up, so it is worth clearing or checking any outstanding bills first.
